North Stonington Weekly Update 07.02.2021 - Adopted Budget, State of the Town, Quarterly in Mailboxes and More!

We hope everyone has cooled off after the mini heatwave this past week!

Things were quite busy here in North Stonington. You are likely to receive your tax bill today if you haven’t already. Please remember, we went through a revaluation last year so your taxes owed will be different than they were last year. For some this could be a reduction and for some more of an increase. It is based on the changed valuation of your property in addition to the 1.59% increase from the recently approved budget. Please consider mailing your bill in at your earliest convenience.

Speaking of the budget, we were happy to see a larger turnout at Monday’s referendum. The budget did pass, and we will go into the fiscal year with our adopted 2021/2022 budget in place. Thanks to all of the poll workers, our registrars, and all of the voters who turned out.

We also had a vaccination clinic during the vote, and we are very thankful to Ledge Light Health District and their volunteers for helping to vaccinate some more of our residents. We currently have a vaccine rate of about 55% who have received the vaccine. Please consider getting your vaccine if you haven’t yet done so.

Tuesday evening, we held a State of the Town and Town Meeting where a short update on our Town’s projects and finances were reviewed among other things.

Our Tax Collector is in from 8am-1pm Monday - Friday should you need to speak with her.

Everyone should have received their North Stonington Quarterly once again. We are so thankful to all of the contributors. Please consider reading it if you have a few minutes. It is a great summary of the happenings around town. Thanks again to Lisa Mazzella and Nita Kincaid for their efforts producing it!

Next week, Town Hall will be closed on Monday in observance of the Independence Day Holiday. There will also be no weekly update next Friday.

Finally, we are SO excited that next week is the North Stonington Agricultural Fair! We look forward to seeing all of our neighbors there. We thank all of the volunteers who work so hard to pull the fair together each and every year.

Have a great weekend and a happy 4th of July!
