North Stonington Weekly Update 9/24/2021 -Open House at North Stonington Elementary, Kayak Trail Opening, and more!

nosto update

Hello North Stonington! Another wonderful week comes to a close here in our beautiful town.

For those who are interested in touring the new Elementary School, there will be an open house tomorrow from 9am-1pm. Feel free to stop by to check out this beautiful facility. Both our new Principal Robert Cillino and Chairwoman of the School Building Committee Pamela Potemri will be on site to offer tours to those interested!

After three years of collaborating with neighbors in Stonington, Westerly, & Hopkinton we have officially “opened” a local Kayak Trail. After the Wood-Pawcatuck was Federally designated as a Wild and Scenic River, efforts spearheaded by Conservation Commission Chairman Bill Ricker were underway to help the community enjoy the waterway. This culminated into a journey down the river attended by residents from each town this past Sunday. We are so thankful to all involved including the Towns, Conservation Commissions, and our Wild and Scenic River Stewards from Town, Madeline Jeffrey and Dick Segar. Pick up a brochure about the Kayak Trail at Town Hall! Click Here for the PDF version of the Lower Pawcatuck River Quad-Town Kayak/Canoe Trail.

We are currently looking for someone to help take on production of our Community Calendar. Our Conservation Commission have been creating this wonderful piece for our town over the past decade. If you are interested in keeping the tradition alive and can offer your help please reach out to Chairman Bill Ricker at williamricker@comcast.net to help.

That’s it for today! We hope you have a great day!
Mike
