North Stonington Weekly Update October 29th, 2021 - PTO Fall Fest tonight, Election upcoming this Tuesday & more!

Happy Friday North Stonington!

October is nearly over and the autumn colors and temps have finally arrived.

For those who didn’t get a chance to come out last Friday and see the Halloween parade, we are sorry you missed it! What a great event and turnout for the town J! Great work to Jen Strunk for organizing and the volunteers who helped make it a success. Those floats were impressive! Thanks also to our troopers and fire police for helping control the traffic and flow of the event. We have already met with Jen about how next year could look and we are looking forward to it already! For those who didn’t attend Channel 3 was out covering it as part of North Stonington’s “20 Towns in 20 Days”. Here’s a link to one of their stories: Click Here to view the story on the WFSB website.

Speaking of great events, the North Stonington PTO is hosting their Fall Fest for North Stonington families tonight! They will have hay rides, a trunk or treat, and even live music. Feel free to come down and support this great organization at the Elementary school this evening from 5-8pm. ( bring cash!)

In general the town faired pretty well with the wind event this past week. Our continued tree maintenance throughout town has helped keep power outages more limited in occurrence and duration. The highway crew was busy clearing trees and branches from the roads that did come down. Also in highway news, plows were maintained and prepared for winter. Salt and sand were mixed for road application. Stillman, Cranberry Bog, and Tom Wheeler were mowed.

Next week the crew will continue to cut trees and haul sand. Winter preparations will continue. Missing and broken guard posts will be replaced throughout town.
