What is the best way to pay my tax bill?

The most convenient way is by mail or online. If you wish to mail your payment please address it to 40 Main St, North Stonington, CT 06359. Write your list numbers on your check. Your list numbers are shown on your payment stubs. If you wish to have a receipt returned to you, please send the entire bill (all three portions) and a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your payment. You will receive a receipt back within a few days. We will not send back your receipt if you do not include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. If you choose to mail your payment please keep in mind that the town is required by law to accept a legible postmark as the date of payment. If you are mailing a payment and it is nearing the end of the month, we recommend going into the Post Office in person and asking them to hand stamp the postmark. Placing your bill in a mailbox, even one in front of a Post Office, does not guarantee that it will be postmarked that same day.

Online payments may be made by going to www.northstoningtonct.gov/payonline. Enter your last name and first initial as it appears on your bill and select the bills you wish to pay. Payment can be made by e-check, credit or debit card. Transaction fees apply and are as follows; e-check $2 flat fee, Visa Debit card $3.95 flat fee, all other debit and credit cards 2.5% of total bill. Credit cards are also accepted in the Tax Collector’s office with the same transaction fees.
