TOWN OF NORTH STONINGTON

TAX COLLECTOR’S LEGAL NOTICE

All persons liable to pay property taxes in the Town of North Stonington are hereby notified that the second installment of REAL ESTATE, MOTOR VEHICLE AND PERSONAL PROPERTY taxes laid on the Grand List of 2022 are due and payable on January 1, 2024. Notice is also given of a Supplement Motor Vehicle tax for motor vehicles registered after October 2, 2022. Said taxes will be due in full on January 1, 2024. If payment is not received or post marked by February 1, 2024, taxes will become delinquent  and subject to interest at the rate of 1.5% per month from the due date. Minimum interest charge is $2.00.

FAILURE TO RECEIVE A BILL DOES NOT INVALIDATE THE TAX OR INTEREST. 

Make your payments at the North Stonington Town Hall between the hours of 8:30 am to 3:30 pm Monday thru Thursday and Friday from 8:30 am to 10:30 am. Payments can also be made by mail, online at www.mytaxbill.net/northstonington, with a small vendor fee, or dropped in the secured drop box outside the Town Hall at 40 Main Street, North Stonington, CT. 

 


Duties & Responsibilities
The Tax Collector's Office is responsible for the administration and the collection of revenue in conformity with Connecticut State Statutes, town ordinances, and established policy. Taxes for Real Estate, Motor Vehicles and Personal Property are billed annually each July and are collected in two installments. The first installment is due July 1st, delinquent after August 1st. The second installment is due the following January 1st, delinquent after February 1st.  There are no “reminders” mailed for the January installments. Please be sure to keep the bills you receive in July for your January payments.

 

Instructions for An IRS Payment Report

You are now able to get an on-line report showing all of your tax payments for the previous calendar year that you can use for preparing your income tax return.

- Select "Pay Taxes Online" from the home screen.

- Enter your last name and first initial in the search criteria field and then click the "IRS Payment Records For Year 2020" bubble directly below the search field. Click "Search". (Please be sure to enter your name exactly as it appears on your tax bills. Also, remember that your bills may be in different people's names (a car may be in your spouse's name) or a business name so you may need to generate more than one report.)

- In the green header bar, select the IRS checkbox.

- A new box entitled "View IRS" will appear above the green header bar, select this box. 

This will provide you with a detailed and printable report for your records.
