8am updates from North Stonington Emergency Operations Center

As mentioned in our update yesterday, our emergency operations center has been activated to help closely monitor the storm. We are in constant contact with responding crews both in and out of town. A couple of updates from our morning briefing…

Tree down on Boom bridge already cleaned up. At the time of this correspondence all roads are passable but we are recommending everyone stay home if you can as the conditions will be worsening.

Storm has been downgraded to Tropical Storm but this does not change the severity and potential impact. Storm is also projected to continue on a path which does look to come through North Stonington.

Stonington emergency shelter has been opened and is available for North Stonington residents in need. If you need the shelter or have questions or need assistance in anyway feel free to utilize 211. If you have an emergency or see downed wires stay far away from them and report those to 911.

Fire, Ambulance, and State Police have already been responding to calls as normal this morning. We have deployed fire engines in different parts of town so we have trucks more easily available in our far reaching areas.

Next briefing will come out sometime after 11am. Stay home and stay safe
