Information regarding town meeting in Thursday at Gymatorium at 7pm

Regarding the topic of the meeting for this Thursday, February 1st we would like to encourage everyone to review the most recent videos on the town website northstoningtonct.gov as well as the news releases over the past couple of weeks. These updates will help you to become informed about the issues at hand. We would caution everyone about getting their information from unreliable sources or by hear-say. Specifically the last two videos and written updates on the homepage are very informative and would serve as a great place to gain insight into this process. Additionally we have assembled a chronological list of pertinent documents related to the project process. For easy access to this see the following link …. https://www.northstoningtonct.gov/home/pages/school-modernization-projec...

How will things work on Thursday?
We will allow people to come in at 6pm to get their seats and/or arrive early at the gymatorium. The meeting will start promptly at 7pm. It is the goal to call for a vote at 8:30pm after a short presentation and public comments. Once a vote is called for itwill be taken immediately and if paper ballots are used you must have one in your hand at the time of the call in order to vote using it. Only those eligible to vote and present will be able to obtain a paper ballot. To be clear, once a vote is called for it will be taken at that time and no additional paper ballots would be available. Our poll workers and registrars will be on hand to check people in to be sure we are following all rules and guidelines. We also have made arrangements for extra capacity in case of a large turnout in cooperation with the Fire Marshall. There will be room and opportunity for everyone to participate who decides to come to the meeting. At the end of the meeting if paper ballots are used people will have the opportunity to eitherput their ballot in the voting machine, or in a box with a poll worker at the front of the room. This should keep things moving along smoothly. Everyone should feel very comfortable that this will be an organized and informative process.

This is a very challenging circumstance for the town. We are doing all that we can to help achieve efficiency and transparency throughout this process. Please remember once this is over on Thursday evening we will all still be neighbors. We are hopeful that once all of the facts are presented the town can truly move together in one direction for the greater benefit of all. Please call or email the town hall with any questions you may have and we will do our best to respond in a timely fashion.
