Please continue to be vigilant about the mosquitoes and take recommended precautions to avoid EEE exposure

The Town has participated in the 9th conference call today regarding the EEE virus found in mosquitoes in the local area with the experts from the State, Ledge Light Health District, and the mosquito management team at the State. With the colder weather the risk is diminishing and mosquito population is decreasing. With that being said there is still risk and the same protocols remain in place until we have a hard frost. We would like to remind everyone to continue to be vigilant and feel free to review Ledge Light Health Districts FAQ page found here https://llhd.org/healthy-communities/nurturing-healthy-environments/mosquito-borne-disease/eee/  for further information. As a reminder, earlier in the season the highway crew placed mosquito dunks in many of the catch basins around town which have a larvicide designed to lessen the potential of further development of adult flying mosquitoes.

For those who are interested in Ledge Light Health District’s mosquito control program, please see this link and contact them directly… https://llhd.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/LLHD-2019-Larvicide-Flier.pdf

The school and town continue to follow recommended precautions as outlined by Ledge Light Health District.
