ASSISTANT ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER

PER DIEM POSITION

The Town of North Stonington seeks qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Animal Control Officer.  This is a per diem, on call position with no regular schedule to assist the Animal Control Officer or to fill in when the Animal Control Officer is on vacation or otherwise unavailable.  Animal control officers must have knowledge of a wide variety of animal species, animal first aid, animal care and nutrition, humane capture tools and techniques, animal behavior, public relations, and cruelty investigation procedures.  Applicants must have working knowledge of animal control laws, regulations and ordinances. Requirements of the position include: high school diploma or equivalent, possession of a valid drivers’ license and at least two (2) years of relevant animal control, veterinary office, animal shelter or closely related experience. Employee must obtain ACO certification and maintain during the course of employment.  The certification academy will begin August 13th and will be held for six weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00am-5:00pm.
