Job Description:
Employee must be able to perform all duties of all highway garage positions to include operation of tractor trailers on Connecticut highways. Employee may be required to work in a lower class position on occasions as needed for daily operations. Employee is required to work all hours of the day, holidays, weekends, multiple days in succession due to weather related events and be willing to work in in-climate weather. Employee must be able to complete tasks with little supervision, be able to assume the duties of the highway foreman in his absence and be able to complete daily assignments without direction. Employee will be tasked with direction and supervision of all town employees.
Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a valid CDL Class A license with a good clean driving record, valid medical certificate. Applicants should have experience in the construction and/or drivers field. Applicants must have general knowledge of Connecticut and Federal Motor Vehicle Laws with the operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
Applicant should have experience and/or general knowledge of plumbing, electrical and building repair and maintenance.
Applicant should have general knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Office, scheduling and computer skills to include sending, receiving, preparation complaints, emails and reports.
Applicants must be able properly to lift, push, pull or move up to 100 pounds, shovel, rake, wash and grease equipment, climb in and out of vehicles on a Daily basis.
Applicant should communication skills to deal with complaints from town departments, public and employees.
