North Stonington Weekly Update 1-22-2021- Vaccine Updates, Registrar Hours Updated, Highway News and More!

Happy Friday North Stonington,

Another wonderful busy week comes to a close here on our beautiful town.

This week we postponed our Tri-Board meeting to a later date, likely at the beginning of February. For those interested in following the budget process, it will begin soon. Both the Board of Selectmen and Board of Education will be discussing and working on their budget preparation at upcoming meetings. Should you have any feedback please consider attending one of the virtual meetings to share your thoughts.

The State has also begun its session with many Bills coming up for discussion. Anyone can follow along to see what Bills are being proposed in the House and Senate online https://www.cga.ct.gov/asp/CGABillInfo/CGABillInfoRequest.asp . This year’s sessions are likely to be very different with the opportunity for remote involvement.

Speaking of our legislature, our local representatives Senator Heather Somers and Representative Greg Howard will be hosting a virtual Town Meeting this Tuesday at 6pm. Login information for the meeting: Zoom link https://zoom.us/j/99290677943 and the Meeting ID is: 992 9067 7943. Residents can also connect to the meeting by telephone, dial +1 (646) 558-8656 and enter the Meeting ID.

This week the highway crew cut trees on Northwest Corner, Puttker, and Dennison Hill roads. The stolen Sleepy Hollow sign and private road sign on Polly were replaced. A stop sign was installed at the intersection of Main St and Wyassup Rd. Roads were sanded during the snow flurries. Maintenance repairs were completed on the transfer station Mack truck and the highway chipper. Sand bars and waterways were cleared on Babcock road.

Next week the crew will continue to cut trees and maintain waterways.

North Stonington’s 2 week average of positive cases sits at 4.8% which is the lowest in Ledge Light Health District’s area. Let’s keep that trend moving downward by bringing a new enthusiasm to mask wearing when distance can’t be kept. No one likes wearing masks, but that is the one thing that can carry us through until vaccines are widely distributed. Please wear those masks even when with family and friends outside of your household. It’s going to be a tough couple of months still but together we will get through this healthy if we all do our part.

On the vaccine front, we are encouraging everyone who is 75 years or older to get their vaccines.

Here’s a look at Local COVID Vaccinations At-a-Glance
